There were more Championship surprises at the weekend with top sides dropping more points and goals-galore being scored up and down the country. Leeds United could only manage a 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday while Middlesbrough shared the spoils with Hull City, however the big winner in the equation was West Bromwich Albion who edged past Preston North End to the tune of 3-2 and climbed up to the top of the Championship table with twenty points to their name.
The Baggies now sit one point clear of Leeds United, Middlesbrough and Sheffield United, however there is much of the season left to play and anything can happen over the coming months. Nevertheless the bookmakers are confident that West Brom will finish the season top of the pile in the second tier with William Hill Bookmakers going 5/2 on the Baggies lifting the Championship title.
For Leeds United, their draw at the weekend was something of a surprise given their excellent start to the campaign and they have now gone two games without a win following their surprise 2-1 defeat by Birmingham City in their previous league outing. The Whites are now 5/1 to win the title, ahead of Middlesbrough who are third in the outright winner market at 11/2.
Can West Bromwich Albion maintain the momentum? We’ll soon find out…
