West Brom favourites for Championship title despite recent inconsistencies

Despite some disappointing recent performances, West Bromwich Albion remain favourites to climb back up to the Premier League

The Football League Championship is once again living up to its reputation as one of the most competitive leagues on the planet, the latest round of fixtures throwing up yet more surprises with top sides dropping points and some of the strugglers enjoying some excellent results. Two of the ‘bigger’ sides which dropped points at the weekend were Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion who were held to draws by Nottingham Forest and Blackburn Rovers respectively. Both will doubtless have been hugely disappointed by their results, especially since title rivals Sheffield United collected a maximum points haul courtesy of a 4-2 win over Wigan Athletic last time out.

The Blades sit two points clear at the top of the Championship table as things stand although West Bromwich Albion and Leeds United are the two favourites to win promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season. The bookies believe that the Baggies are the most likely side to clinch the title at 10/3 with William Hill with Leeds United not far behind at 4/1. Despite sitting in pole position in the league table, Sheffield United are joint-fourth in the outright betting at 11/2 alongside Middlesbrough.

With much of the season still ahead of us, the public clearly believe that both Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion have what it takes to clinch the title despite dropping points in recent outings.
