Tottenham Hotspur 2/5 to be top London club in 2018/19

Tottenham Hotspur remain on course to be the highest-placed Premier League side in the capital at the end of the season

Things have been going pretty well for Tottenham Hotspur this season with Mauricio Pochettino’s men sitting firmly in the Premier League top-three as things stand. The North Londoners are still in touch with second-placed Manchester City in the top-flight with just two points separating the two sides and while they are some distance from table-topping Liverpool right now, Spurs look well-placed to grab themselves a Champions League berth at the close of the campaign.

While Tottenham Hotspur were on the receiving end of a 4-2 defeat to arch-rivals Arsenal in early December, they have since enjoyed wins over the Gunners (0-2) and Chelsea (1-0) in the Carabao Cup, this further underlining their perceived dominance in the capital. Little wonder then that BetVictor Bookmakers have Pochettino’s men chalked-in as 1/2 odds-on favourites to finish the season in pole position amongst London’s Premier League sides.

As things stand, Chelsea sit fourth in the table with four points separating them from Spurs although their title ambitions were dealt a blow in their first match of 2019 when they were held to a hugely disappointing goal-less draw at home to Southampton. Nevertheless there is every reason to believe that they can narrow the gap between themselves and Tottenham Hotspur with the bookmakers going 2/1 that they finish the season as top London club.

Arsenal are the only other side from the capital in the top-six although despite enjoying some blistering form earlier in the campaign, they have been less impressive in recent weeks with three defeats, a draw and just a single win in their last five competitive outings of 2018. Nevertheless they bounced back from their 5-1 drubbing at Liverpool to thrash city rivals Fulham 4-1 on New Years’ Day and followed this with a 3-0 FA Cup victory at Blackpool although the bookmakers are far from optimistic that they can finish the season as top club in the capital, BetVictor Bookies going 8/1 that they manage to overcome the seven-point gap which exists between themselves and Spurs.
