Theresa May 4/1 to step down as Prime Minister in March 2019

There is a possibility that Theresa May may resign at some point this year with the bookmakers gearing themselves up for the Prime Minister to leave in March

The Brexit saga continues unabated with Prime Minister Theresa May set to ask MPs for another two weeks’ grace before parliament debates yet another motion on the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union. No ‘meaningful vote’ on a deal will be taken this week, such an occurrence likely to be towards the end of the month although if there isn’t a finalised deal put before the House of Commons by February 27th then another amendable motion would be put to MPs.

This continuing uncertainty is piling the pressure on Theresa May and as such the bookmakers are of the opinion that she might leave 10 Downing Street sooner rather than later, most firms going odds-on that the exit date is sometime this year. Indeed Paddy Power Bookmakers go just 4/1 that the Prime Minister steps down from her position in March 2019 and 11/2 that she departs the following month.

4/6 says that the PM will leave by the end of the year although some firms believe that she is likely to remain in her current role until 2020 at the earliest, this scenario coming in at just 5/4. Some pundits believe that she won’t last until the end of February but the bookmakers don’t expect that to be the case with Paddy Power going 14/1 on such a scenario.
