Sunderland enjoy games-in-hand over the sides above them in the League One table and they will be confident of keeping themselves in contention for a top-two finish by beating Blackpool at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday evening. The Black Cats have suffered relegation in each of the past two seasons and they find themselves in the third tier for the second time in their illustrious history, however they are doing their utmost to ensure that their stay in League One will last no more than a single season.
Thus far they are doing a decent enough job with Jack Ross’s men unbeaten in front of their home fans and competition for an automatic promotion berth with the likes of Charlton Athletic, Portsmouth, Barnsley and unstoppable Luton Town. They can gain ground on these rivals by collecting all three points on Tuesday evening and we certainly don’t envisage Sunderland’s unbeaten home run coming to an end on Tuesday.

Blackpool currently sit eighth in League One with just four points separating them from the play-off berths, Terry McPhillips doing a great job since taking the reins from Gary Bowyer at the start of the campaign. The Seasiders have enjoyed some decent form on their travels with clean sheets kept in each of their last three away games – including away to high-flying Portsmouth – however Sunderland have made their home something of a fortress this term and we envisage the Black Cats keeping their promotion bid very much on track with a win here on Tuesday evening, Coral Bookmakers going 16/5 on Sunderland to win and both teams to score.
