Hibs have been banging in the goals for fun in recent outings but their free-scoring ways came to an end when they were held to a goal-less draw in their Europa League qualifying clash with Molde last time out. The Edinburgh side had previously scored nineteen times in their opening five matches of the season and boss Neil Lennon will doubtless be more than happy with how his men have kicked-off their campaign.
Lennon was dismayed at missing out on a top-two finish in last season’s Scottish Premiership campaign and he threatened to quit soon afterwards, however he has since calmed down it would appear and given how Hibs have started the season, a second-place finish doesn’t seem out of the question.
Hibernian’s excellent European results were complemented by a 3-0 hammering of Motherwell in their opening Premiership outing last weekend and hardly surprisingly Lennon’s men are huge favourites to collect all three points in Perth on Sunday, the bookmakers giving away free bets on St Johnstone v Hibernian.
2017/18 wasn’t a great season for St Johnstone with the Perth side finishing in the bottom half of the league table for the first time since 2011 and there is little evidence that things will be any better this season given that they lost 2-0 to Kilmarnock in their opening Premiership match last weekend. Nevertheless Saints have impressed in front of their home fans with no defeats in their last seven outings at McDiarmid park and we’ll be siding with them to grab a share of the spoils on Sunday afternoon with William Hill Bookmakers going 5/2 on a draw.
