Cardiff City have been very much under a cloud in recent weeks following the death of new signing Emiliano Sala in an aeroplane crash and they undoubtedly warrant a large amount of credit for their spirited performances following the tragedy, especially the 2-0 victory over AFC Bournemouth which resulted in an outpouring of emotion from under-pressure boss Neil Warnock.
The Yorkshireman will be hopeful that his Bluebirds can continue in a similar manner when they line-up against Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium this week and produce a performance of which “Sala would be proud”. Indeed they have an incentive to drag themselves out of the bottom three in the Premier League table and climb above the Saints with a win on the south coast this weekend.
Cardiff have been unimpressive on their travels but they managed a win at Leicester City after Christmas and are certainly worth keeping on side on Saturday afternoon.

Southampton have been one of the draw specialists in the top-flight this season and they remain something of an enigma under new boss Ralph Hasenhuttl. The Austrian has certainly made them a tougher side to beat with no defeats in their last seven outings but they have been struggling to keep clean sheets and this has cost them dearly in recent weeks. They were second best against Burnley at Turf Moor last weekend and we don’t fancy their chances against the Bluebirds on Saturday afternoon, BetVictor Bookmakers going 21/5 on Cardiff City to win.
