This is South Africa’s first ever appearance in the Women’s World Cup and they can be justly proud of their achievements in reaching the competition despite their campaign set to end at the group stage. The Bayana Bayana have been improving steadily in recent years with appearances in the final four of the last four African Championships although while they haven’t embarrassed themselves on the big stage this summer, they have thus far failed to get any points on the board following defeats to Spain and China. Qualification for the last sixteen is now impossible although there is still a chance that they can go home on the back of a shock victory.

Germany are one of only two sides to have won the Women’s World Cup on more than one occasion and they are amongst the favourites to lift the trophy this summer. Nevertheless this German team are a far cry from those which won the competition in 2003 and 2007, this being the reason why they are fourth favourites to win the competition behind USA, France and England.
The Germans certainly haven’t been anything like as dominant as the USA and France thus far although coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg will be satisfied with how things have panned out so far. 1-0 wins over Spain and China aren’t going to set the pulses racing but they have been enough to steer Germany towards the knockout stages of the tournament and the evidence suggests that victory will come their way tonight.
This should prove to be a thoroughly one-sided affair and as such there is no value to be had in backing the Germans, however with South Africa having nothing to lose, we envisage them giving this a real go and getting their names on the scoresheet, BetVictor Bookmakers going 13/5 on Germany to win and both teams to score.
