It’s almost eleven years since Ryan McCann scored an 84-yard goal for Queen of the South to put them 2-0 up against Dundee and send them on their way to an eventual appearance in the 2008 Scottish Cup Final, however we’re not expecting things to be quite so exciting when the two sides lock horns in a fourth-round replay in the same competition on Tuesday evening.
Scottish Premiership side Dundee are another top-flight club to have failed to find a way past lower-league opposition on home soil in this round of the Scottish Cup and they have another chance to make it into the fifth round of the competition on Tuesday evening when they make the journey down to Palmerston Park, the scene of Ryan McCann’s heroics some eleven years ago.

Dundee did manage to bounce back from their 1-1 draw with the Doonhamers when edging past Hearts 2-1 in the Premiership just a few days later, however they were sent crashing back down to earth when losing 1-0 away to Motherwell last time out.
The Dens Park outfit remain firmly rooted in the Premiership bottom-two as things stand and their form on the road has been terrible with just two away wins coming their way since the start of the season. As for Queen of the South, they did suffer a narrow defeat to Partick Thistle at the weekend thus denting their promotion hopes, however they have been excellent in front of their home fans with huge wins over top-two sides Ayr United (5-0) and most recently Ross County (4-0), therefore we’ll be going with the underdog in this one and backing the Doonhamers to once again see off Dundee at Palmerston Park, William Hill Bookmakers going 7/4 on Queen of the South to win. We don’t anticipate any 84-yard goals though!
