After slipping-up in recent weeks, Liverpool are now just three points above Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title and we expect the Citizens to leapfrog the Reds into pole position when they face Everton on Wednesday evening.
Manchester City stumbled at St James’ Park last week but they responded to the shock defeat to the Magpies by thumping Arsenal to the tune of 3-1 in their last outing. As such Pep Guardiola’s men have been cut to odds-on favourites to win the 2018/19 Premier League title after Liverpool could only manage a 1-1 draw with West Ham United on Monday evening. Prior to that disappointing stalemate, Liverpool were odds-on at 8/13 for the title but that price is now just a distant memory.
Liverpool’s odds on winning their first ever Premier League title have drifted to 11/10 with the Citizens swapping places into 5/6 odds-on favourites.
Punters are backing Manchester City in their droves following Liverpool’s stalemate with the Hammers on Monday evening with a reported 39% of all bets in the Premier League Winner market being aimed at Guardiola’s men.
Indeed with Liverpool 1-0 up at home to Leicester City last week, it seemed inconceivable that just a few days later the Reds would lose favouritism in the hunt for the Premier League title. Indeed it would perhaps be unwise to completely write off Tottenham Hotspur who are hanging in there at 16/1 with just five points separating them from Liverpool.
