Pakistan stunned World Cup hosts England in their second match of the competition with a 14 run victory at Trent Bridge just a few days after being bowled out for just 105 in their opening match against the West Indies. Prior to their meeting with England on Monday, Pakistan were 10/3 to triumph while the hosts were odds-on at just 1/5, however the form book was thrown out of the window as Pakistan broke their long ODI losing streak in the most impressive way.
As such their odds on winning the 2019 Cricket World Cup have been slashed from 40/1 to just 12/1 with Ladbrokes Bookmakers, placing them ahead of the likes of Bangladesh, South Africa, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. England remain favourites to win the tournament although their odds have drifted to as much as 2/1 with some bookies following the surprise defeat at Trent Bridge.

Prior to their second World Cup outing, Pakistan had suffered defeat in their previous eleven matches including a 4-0 series thrashing by England. Nevertheless they built themselves a total of 348 with the bat with Mohammed Hafeez managing 84 off 62 and England were made to pay for some dismal fielding. Joe Root and Joe Buttler made centuries but the hosts were unable to pull off a record run chase and Wahab Riaz cleared up the late challengers on the day.
