Is it all over now? Man City now just 4/11 for Premier League title

In the wake of City's six-goal thrashing of Southampton, the bookmakers have slashed the odds on Pep Guardiola's men once again becoming Premier League champions

Manchester City effectively ran away with the Premier League title in 2017/18 and while the evidence suggests that they will be given more of a challenge this season from the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool, most pundits firmly believe that they will make it two titles on the bounce.

Pep Guardiola’s side have thus far amassed 29 points from their eleven league matches, a couple of draws spoiling an otherwise perfect start to the campaign. Indeed while they have impressed since the start of the season, their standout result was a six-goal demolition of Southampton at the weekend.

City banged-in three goals in the opening twenty minutes of that match and with the game well and truly over by this point, they completed the rout with a further three with Raheem Sterling grabbing a brace. Southampton managed a consolation courtesy of Danny Ings, however it was a severe thrashing in anyone’s books and with Liverpool dropping points in their meeting with Arsenal, Ladbrokes Bookmakers slashed City’s title odds to just 4/11 – the shortest that they have been this term.

Liverpool have dropped to just 10/3 to go one better than last season and lift the crown for the first time in 28 years while Chelsea are way out at 11/1, the Blues the only other side shorter than 40/1.
