Fans of football are desperately craving their footy fix with all leagues and events cancelled for the foreseeable future. As a result, FIFA Ultimate QuaranTeam might just be the answer.
Worldwide FIFA20 players have been putting themselves forward for what has proven to be a hugely popular tournament – all in the name of charity – with the virtual competition being devised by London outfit Leyton Orient. The League Two side were aiming to raise around £50,000 for charity, however that figure has been completely smashed thanks to an overwhelming response.
128 teams have been represented in a knockout competition played on FIFA20 and some of the virtual players are represented by actual players themselves such as Norwich City attacker Todd Cantwell, Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend and Brighton & Hove Albion frontman Neal Maupay.
The tournament was launched on Sunday 22nd March when hosts Leyton Orient kicked things off, however goalie Sam Sergeant was eliminated thanks to a 6-3 defeat against Lokomotiv Moscow.
With Day Three about to get underway, the 128 clubs have been whittled down to just 64 and you can keep track of the tournament by checking your club’s official website or Twitter account. Competition creators Leyton Orient are showing games via Twitch and the League Two outfit are encouraging other clubs to do the same.
Middlesbrough (represented by fan Danny Taylor) are current joint-favourites to win Ultimate Quaranteam with BetVictor Bookmakers going 4/1 on the virtual-Teesiders alongside French outfit Nantes at the same odds. Manchester City and Angers are next at 5/1 apiece while Sheffield Wednesday are an 8/1 punt.
