Mauricio Pochettino 6/1 to be next Premier League managerial casualty

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is joint-favourite to be next Premier League boss to leave his post

If the bookie odds are to be believed, then Mauricio Pochettino could be on his way out of White Hart Lane in the very near future. Indeed the odds on the Tottenham Hotspur gaffer being the next managerial casualty in the Premier League have been slashed from 66/1 to just 4/1 following a dismal run during which the north London club have collected just two points from their last three league matches. Admittedly two of those matches have been against top-quality opposition in the form of Manchester City and Arsenal, however the manner in which Spurs capitulated when losing by 1-0 at home to Newcastle United was hugely disappointing and following that result, punters were quick to back Pochettino to be next in line for the sack. Pochettino has been touted with a possible move to Real Madrid and this has also been a big factor in his odds being slashed.

Pochettino sits at the top of the ‘Sack Race’ betting market alongside Newcastle United’s Steve Bruce and Manchester United’s Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at odds of 6/1 apiece. The Magpies managed a share of the spoils with Watford in their last outing and this helped Bruce’s cause while the Red Devils have picked up just two points from their last three matches with draws against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Southampton as well as a defeat at home to Crystal Palace, a disappointing run of results given that they launched their campaign with a 4-0 mauling of Chelsea.
