Mark Selby backed to win 2018 World Snooker Championship after China win

Selby claims another China Open victory and he’s now 7/2 with bet365 to win at the Crucible

On 21 April 2018, the World Snooker Championship starts and Mark Selby has been the warm order to win the tournament in the past 48 hours following his China Open success last week.

The Leicester potter has had a mediocre season by his high standards, although Selby demolished Barry Hawkins in the China Open final 11-3 and is now 7/2 with bet365 to retain his World Championship crown.

Selby is clearly granite when it comes to the longer-frame format at the Crucible, with the number one seed facing a potential second round clash against Mark Allen, while Shaun Murphy or Kyren Wilson could await him in the quarter finals.

Nevertheless, he has won three of the past four renewals at Sheffield, with the only player ahead of him in the betting market being Ronnie O’Sullivan who has been wowing the crowds this year and seems to be in good nick.

The Rocket bowed out of the China Open at an early stage, although he will be well rested for the Crucible and bet365 offer 2/1 that he lands a sixth world title.

It’s clear that O’Sullivan has learnt how to pace himself correctly at this stage of his career and the money has been coming for the popular player who is always box office when he plays.

Judd Trump is an 8/1 chance to win an elusive first world title, while John Higgins is an 11/1 poke and Ding Junhui makes appeal at 12/1 considering that the Chinaman has made the last four in the past couple of years.
