As ever, expectations are high, reality is suspicious, and the script practically writes itself—with VAR playing the villain, obviously.

So, let’s take a wander through the Red Devils’ upcoming campaign.

August – Early Doors and Acid Tests

The curtain rises in dramatic fashion on Sunday 17th August at 4:30pm, as Arsenal rock up to Old Trafford for a clash steeped in history, red cards, and outrageously optimistic scoreline predictions from both sets of fans. The Emirates faithful may still be grumbling about last season’s bottle-job, but United will be eyeing this one as a statement win—or, at the very least, a decent draw and three new memes.

Next stop is the Thames, as United travel to Fulham on Saturday 23rd August at 3pm. Lovely ground, cracking pies, and a team that can either play like Barcelona or Barnet depending on the breeze. By Saturday 30th August, Burnley make their way to Old Trafford, bringing a bus, a spare bus, and probably Vincent Kompany’s latest PowerPoint on “controlled aggression.” Expect possession stats to be one-sided and a Turf Moor-style response on Twitter.

September – Rude Awakenings and Rivalry Renewals

After a convenient early break that’ll give United fans a week to fantasise about an actual title charge, it’s back to the harsh reality of Saturday 13th September, away at Manchester City. You don’t need me to tell you how this usually goes. Guardiola’s lot are likely to be seven points clear already, while United cling to the idea that “McTominay always turns up in derbies.”

A week later, 20th September, Chelsea come to town. That means unpredictable brilliance from both teams, five changes each by half-time, and possibly a 3–2 thriller with six disallowed goals. Then it’s off to west London to face Brentford on 27th September—a banana skin cleverly disguised as a football match.

October – Squeaky Bum Month (Part One)

Things start relatively calmly with Sunderland visiting Old Trafford on 4th October, a nostalgic tie that evokes memories of Roy Keane, furious handshakes, and Darren Bent’s knee.

That calm is swiftly shattered by a trip to Anfield on 18th October. It’s Liverpool v United—the fixture where form books are burned, common sense goes missing, and every tackle feels like a war crime. The month wraps up with Brighton’s visit on 25th October, which in recent seasons has been less ‘day at the seaside’ and more ‘hangover in a wind tunnel’.

November – Madness in Moderation

It’s Forest away on 1st November—a tie United should win, but you never know with that crowd. Then 8th November, Tottenham at the lane. Always good for drama, especially when neither defence looks particularly convinced by the concept of “marking.”

United host Everton on 22nd November, which should be straightforward unless Sean Dyche has invented some new tactical monstrosity involving three keepers and a tea urn. Then, 29th November, it’s off to Selhurst Park, a stadium known more for atmosphere than clean sheets.

December – Fixtures, Festivities, and Frayed Nerves

Things get spicy under the Old Trafford lights on Wednesday 3rd December, with West Ham paying a visit. It’s one of those games that could go 0–0 or 5–2 with equal plausibility.

Just three days later, on 6th December, United go to Molineux—a place where matches become slogfests and footballs mysteriously vanish into the stands.

13th December, Bournemouth make the trip north. The Cherries have occasionally stung United before, so don’t count your goals before they’re scored.

Then it’s Villa Park on 20th December, and if there’s one place that’s good for last-minute heartbreak, it’s there. Just ask any away fan who’s ever thought “we’ve got this.”

27th December brings Newcastle to town for a festive fixture that promises full-throttle football, howling decisions, and a faint whiff of Europa League jeopardy. That joy is followed by a second meeting with Wolves on 30th December, this time at home—and hopefully with a few more goals.

January – New Year, New Nonsense

Kickstarting 2026 on 3rd January, United trek to Leeds. Say what you will, but this fixture rarely lacks bite. Elland Road will be rocking, and so will the stewards.

Then it’s Burnley again on 7th January, away this time, under the lights. You can practically smell the frost and misplaced passes already.

17th January, City come to Old Trafford. Second leg of the Manchester Derby. Time for redemption… or repetition.

And then on 24th January, United travel to the Emirates, where Arsenal fans will be muttering about “net spend” and United will try to remember how to defend against late runs.

Fulham close out the month on 31st January, in what will likely be marketed as “a big test,” but may just involve a lot of sideways passing.

February – That Odd Bit in the Middle

7th February, Spurs again—this time at Old Trafford. Could go either way. Almost certainly will.

11th February, West Ham away. Always a weird one. Feels like a cup tie, behaves like a maths exam.

21st February, Everton again, this time at their brand new stadium on the banks of the Mersey. The Toffees will be fighting for points, and United will probably be fighting for cohesion.

On 28th February, Crystal Palace visit again. These two will know each other too well by now, and we may all suffer for it.

March – Tired Legs and Title Dreams (Possibly)

March kicks off with Newcastle away on the 4th, under the floodlights. St. James’ Park will be bouncing, and it could be brutal.

Then it’s Villa at home on 14th March, which feels like a good time for someone to step up and score a screamer they’ll never replicate.

Finally, on 21st March, it’s off to Bournemouth. Pleasant surroundings, infuriating pitch dimensions.

April – Squeaky Bum Month (Part Two)

United welcome Leeds to Old Trafford on 11th April. Another northern punch-up. What fun.

18th April, Chelsea away. Stamford Bridge rarely gives United anything for free, and this will be no exception.

Then Brentford again on 25th April, at home this time, where hopefully the Bees won’t cause too much of a buzz.

May – That’s Your Lot

Liverpool rock up to Manchester on 2nd May, and with any luck, both teams will still be in the title conversation. Or scrapping for top four. Or arguing about who’s had the more traumatic season.

Then it’s Sunderland away on 9th May, where anything less than three points might cause Twitter to combust.

The final week brings Nottingham Forest to Old Trafford on 17th May for the home curtain closer, before the grand finale on the south coast at Brighton on 24th May. By then, we’ll know whether United have soared, stumbled, or spectacularly imploded. Again.
