Red Hot Form
Manchester City are assured of second place in the Premier League table at the end of what has been a tough and uncertain campaign in many ways. Liverpool have been worthy Premier League winners, however Pep Guardiola’s men have been the more impressive team for much of the season, their inconsistencies ultimately letting them down. Indeed the bookmakers believe that City will dominate in 2020/21 and given their recent excellent form, we have little doubt that they will continue in winning ways in the closing stages of the campaign.
Guardiola’s side have enjoyed three 5-0 wins since their return from the break and they thumped champions Liverpool to the tune of 4-0 during that time. A couple of slip-ups against Chelsea and Southampton can be seen in context with the side all-but-assured of second place and little left to play for in that regard. Guardiola will have been less than amused by these disappointing results and he will doubtless be demanding nothing less than three points when Bournemouth come to town tonight.
As far as Bournemouth are concerned, it is looking increasingly likely that their five-season stint in the top-flight is about to come to an end. The Cherries have generally been poor since their return from the break although they did grab themselves a lifeline thanks to a surprise 4-1 win over top-four hopefuls Leicester City last time out.
Time running out
Eddie Howe’s men sit three points adrift of safety but they do have three matches left to play so while time is fast running out, there is still a chance for them to save their skin. Unfortunately for the Cherries, they do have a tough run-in to the end of the season and we don’t envisage them managing anything for their efforts tonight. City are red hot right now and having scored ten goals without reply in their last two matches, we expect a thoroughly one-sided exchange this evening.
