Man City v Liverpool Betting Odds
In many respects this could be seen as a dead rubber of a match, Liverpool already having secured the Premier League Title and Manchester City out of contention for a Champions League place thanks to their imposed European ban. Nevertheless given the form of both these teams and the fact that both Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola will be demanding nothing less than three points, this clash promises much in the way of thrills and spills.
To be fair, Liverpool haven’t been exceptional this season although they have clearly been good enough to secure the domestic title for the first time in thirty years. They have had to wait a little longer than expected thanks to the enforced break, however they confirmed their title thanks to Manchester City’s failure to manage anything from their trip to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening.
Pep Guardiola’s men will be desperate to bounce back from their disappointing defeat in there capital and while they brushed aside Newcastle United to the tune of 2-0 at St James’ Park in the FA Cup last weekend, they will be eager to get one over on the new Premier League champions tonight. City have won three of their last four competitive outings to nil and while Liverpool will provide Guardiola’s side with tough opposition at the Etihad Stadium, we envisage the home side keeping Klopp’s men at bay.
Indeed Manchester City have won each of their last three at this venue with an aggregate scoreline of 10-0 and it’s hard to imagine a Liverpool side with little left to play for coming away with anything for their troubles. Not only that but the Citizens still have silverware to play for and they will be looking to continue the momentum ahead of their FA Cup semi-final clash with Arsenal later this month.
All-in-all, this promises to be a hugely entertaining and closely-contested encounter between the two best teams in the country and while we expect the Citizens to keep the Reds at bay, we certainly don’t envisage this being a one-sided affair by any means
