This season’s FA Cup is now down to just four teams and just a single match separates these sides from a place in the Final next month. Arsenal’s narrow win at Sheffield United in the last round of the competition sets them up for a clash with tournament favourites Manchester City, the latter winning convincingly against Newcastle United at St James’ Park last night. Chelsea and Manchester United both won by single-goal margins against Leicester City and Norwich City respectively and they will do battle in the other semi-final, both games taking place on Saturday 18th July at 3pm.
Manchester City are massive favourites to add the FA Cup to their trophy cabinet this season and rightly so given that they have been excellent in this competition thus far. Pep Guardiola’s men were dumped out of Premier League Title contention earlier this month when they lost 2-1 at Chelsea, however they bounced back in excellent fashion when brushing aside Newcastle United to the tune of 2-0 in the FA Cup quarter-finals and we envisage them edging past Arsenal at the next stage. The bookmakers go a general 8/13 that Man City go all the way in then competition with some operators going as low as 1/2.
Chelsea will doubtless have been boosted by their narrow league win over Manchester City last weekend and they are a general 4/1 to get their hands on the trophy, however of primary concern for the Blues will be their top-three battle in the Premier League. Also at 4/1 are Manchester United although they too will perhaps be attaching more importance to their Champions League bid, the Red Devils just six points from the top-three as things stand. Arsenal are rank outsiders at 12/1 to lift the FA Cup this season.
