Only a few days ago we would have been tempted to side with League One side Luton Town to pull off something of an upset in their Tuesday-evening FA Cup third-round meeting with Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday, however the surprise departure of popular boss Nathan Jones to Stoke City has dented our confidence in the Hatters somewhat. OK so we don’t expect Luton to suffer a collapse in form right now, however the departure of Jones and the resultant change in manager may unsettle a side which have been flying high in the third tier this season. Whether this will derail Luton Town’s promotion push remains to be seen but we don’t envisage the Hatters pulling off a shock in the FA Cup on the back of these disappointing developments.
Luton did extremely well to hold the Owls to a draw at Hillsborough in the original third-round tie in early January and they will fancy their chances of going one better in front of their own fans, especially so since they have been unbeaten at Kenilworth Road in League One this term with ten wins and three draws along the way. As such, we envisage Luton giving a good account of themselves on Tuesday evening, the bookmakers giving away free bets on Luton Town v Sheffield Wednesday.
As for the visitors, they certainly haven’t been at their very best on the road this season although they have been putting in some good performances of late with two wins and two draws prior to the weekend 3-0 thrashing at Hull City. We wouldn’t be surprised were Luton Town to come out on top in this match but we’ll be taking the cautious route and backing the Hatters on the Draw-No Bet market with Ladbrokes Bookmakers going 8/13 on this eventuality.
