Liverpool now 2/5 for Premier League Title

Following the weekend results, Liverpool are now just 2/5 to get their hands on the Premier League trophy for the first time ever

The weekend meeting between top-two rivals Liverpool and Manchester City could prove to be pivotal in the battle for the Premier League title and with the Reds winning this clash to the tune of 3-1, they have opened up a gap of eight points between themselves and their closest rival, this now being Leicester City. As a result of this defeat, Manchester City have now dropped down to fourth in the Premier League with a single point separating them from joint-second-placed Chelsea and Leicester City.

With Jurgen Klopp’s men enjoying such a commanding lead at what is nevertheless a relatively early stage of the season, it isn’t a massive surprise to see their odds continually shortening with regard to them winning their first ever Premier League title. The reigning European champions are now just 2/5 to get their hands on the ultimate domestic prize for their first time since 1989/90 when they won the old First Division.

Nevertheless while a lead of eight points may seem healthy, there remains much of the season left to play and a downturn in fortunes could see this lead narrowed substantially. Second-placed Leicester City will be only too ready top pounce on any Liverpool slip-ups and Jurgen Klopp will be only too aware of this.
