Leicester City’s dismal capitulation against relegation-threatened AFC Bournemouth certainly wasn’t indicative of a side battling it out for a Champions League berth. The Foxes will be in for another tough test of their top-four credentials tonight when they come up against a Sheffield United outfit which are now back to their old selves following a shaky spell.
As things stand, Brendan Rodgers’ men look completely bereft of ideas and they appear to lack quality in their ranks, something which certainly isn’t actually the case. Confidence seems to be lacking for some reason and until they can find a way to overcome these issues, it’s hard to see just how they can arrest this inexorable slide.
The Foxes have lost three of their last five outings and while they remain in the top four, they are ahead of fifth-placed Manchester United on goal difference alone, the latter certain to pounce on any Leicester slip-ups. In fairness, the Foxes looked to be cruising against Bournemouth, however a handful of individual errors cost them dearly and ultimately the final result was a fair reflection on a dreadful team effort.
Back to Old Selves
As for Sheffield United, they have returned to their old selves and a European place is now back in the equation. The Blades have recorded excellent wins over the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Chelsea within the space of a few days and they will go to within two points of the Foxes should they win tonight.
Given the direction in which both sides are going, it’s extremely hard to envisage the home side managing anything from this clash and as such, victory for the Blades is very tempting at a generous price.
