Portsmouth remain at the top of the League One table despite their surprise 2-0 defeat to Gillingham last weekend, however both Peterborough United and Sunderland remain hot on their heels in the battle for top-spot. Pompey will be confident of cementing their pole position when they travel to AFC Wimbledon this weekend although we don’t expect it to be a walk in the park for the visitors. Second-placed Peterborough stormed to the top of the table following an excellent start to the season although things have slowed down substantially for the Posh in recent outings and they will be eager to get things back on track when they travel to Scunthorpe United. Third-placed Sunderland were firmly expected to dominate the division from start to finish following their second successive relegation at the end of last season, however the Black Cats have clearly found the going pretty tough and the possibility is that they will lose ground on the sides above them in the League One table given that they aren’t in action until the following weekend.
At the opposite end of the table, rock-bottom side Oxford United battle it out with second-bottom Plymouth Argyle in a match which has a distinct six-pointer feel about it, despite much of the season remaining. Third-from-bottom Bradford City are also looking in real danger as things stand and they are in for a tough afternoon when they visit high-flying Accrington Stanley while fellow strugglers Bristol Rovers can help their cause with a win at Burton Albion this weekend.
Who will be the League One winners and losers on Saturday afternoon? Here’s what we think…
