2022 World Cup Qualifier

Live coverage on ITV at 7:45pm, Thursday 2nd September 2021

Following their disappointment in the Euro 2020 Final, Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions are back in action tonight when they travel to Hungary in the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers. England sit firmly at the top of Group I as things stand but only two points separate them from second-placed Hungary after three games, therefore Southgate’s men will be looking for nothing less than three points this evening as they look to further tighten their grip on pole position in the group.

Hungary impressed at this summer’s European Championships and they will take their place on the international stage once again tonight when they lock horns with beaten Euro 2020 finalists England in Budapest. The Three Lions will no doubt be anticipating an extremely testing game this evening but there can be no doubt that Southgate’s side will be brimming with confidence ahead of this match and with plenty of talent within their ranks, they should be beating their hosts in the Hungarian capital.

The Three Lions enjoy an excellent head-to-head record against Hungary with wins in all-but-two of the last eleven meetings between the sides across competitions. The last three meetings have seen both teams find the back of the net and we envisage a goal-laden encounter when they lock horns tonight.

Looking at potential goal-scorers, Raheem Sterling has already bagged one goal in the qualifying group and after impressing at the European Championships, we envisage him finding the back of the net in Budapest. After missing the opening match of the season for Tottenham Hotspur, Harry Kane isn’t fully match fit and Sterling generally looks at his best when running out for the Three Lions.

Our Tips:

England to win and Both Teams to Score at best odds of 14/5

Raheem Sterling to score anytime at best odds of 6/4
