Crystal Palace were staring relegation squarely in the face in the early stages of last season and it needed the appointment of Roy Hodgson as manager for the Eagles to turn their season around. The former England gaffer has thus far done an admirable job at Selhurst Park although once again this has all the makings of a long and hard season for Palace given that they have amassed a measly eight points from their opening eleven league matches.
Crystal Palace head into their weekend meeting with Spurs having lost all-but-one of their last six games across all competitions, however they have faced some tough opposition during that time and things don’t come much harder than Tottenham Hotspur this weekend. There’s little evidence to suggest that the Eagles can put their poor recent form behind them on Saturday evening and we don’t envisage them managing anything for their efforts in front of their long-suffering home fans, the bookmakers giving away free bets on Crystal Palace v Tottenham Hotspur.
While Tottenham Hotspur sit relatively comfortably in the Premier League top-four, there remains unrest at the club following the failure to splash the cash on new players and the continued saga surrounding the move to the new stadium. Spurs remain at Wembley Stadium for the foreseeable future and the supporters are starting to grow a little impatient.
Nevertheless performances on the pitch are more positive and Tottenham’s narrow win at Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend was their eighth victory of the campaign and sent them above arch-rivals Arsenal in the Premier League table. Mauricio Pochettino’s men kept their Champions League hopes alive thanks to an excellent comeback against PSV Eindhoven earlier this week and they will be confident of keeping the momentum going when they visit Selhurst Park on Saturday.
Spurs’ recent form has been excellent although while they have won their last three games in all competitions, they have conceded in each of them and Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha will be a considerable threat to the Tottenham rearguard. As such, we expect the Eagles to add to the scoreline in this weekend’s clash but we also envisage Spurs out-gunning the hosts with Coral Bookmakers going 12/5 on Tottenham Hotspur to win and both teams to score.
