Coventry City have hauled themselves to the summit of the League One table and show no signs of relinquishing this lofty position any time soon. Mark Robins’ men have gone 14 league games without defeat with 11 wins during this time and as such they now enjoy a five-point lead over closest challengers Rotherham United at the top of the division.

The bookmakers have reacted by continuously cutting the odds on Coventry being promoted to the Championship at the end of the campaign, most firms going just 4/9 that they lift the League One title and find themselves in the second tier at the start of 2020/21. Clearly the team’s exile to Birmingham City’s St Andrews ground has had no negative impact on the side whatsoever and there’s no reason to believe that they will slip up between now and the end of the season.

Yo-yo club Rotherham United are being seen as the biggest perceived threat to Coventry City’s dominance, the second-placed Millers a 5/1 shot to finish top of the pile. The South Yorkshire outfit have dropped down twice from the Championship in the past three seasons with one promotion from League One during this time and many believe that this transition between the two divisions will continue at the end of the current campaign.

The 2019/20 League One title battle is something of a two-horse race according to the bookmakers with third-favourites Oxford United a 12/1 shot for the title alongside Portsmouth and Peterborough United at the same odds.
