Championship Relegation Odds: Who will finish in the bottom three?
Championship Relegation Odds
Following the enforced break, the 2019/20 Championship campaign has resumed and while Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion look set for promotion into the Premier League, the battle for survival towards the foot of the second tier approaches its conclusion.
Luton Town look destined for the drop, the Bedfordshire outfit managing to string together a decent run with just a single defeat in their last seven outings but failing to lift themselves off the foot of the league table. The Hatters have shared the spoils in each of their last three matches and this has helped them narrow the gap between themselves and second-bottom side Barnsley to just a single point. Indeed Luton are just five points from safety although one cannot escape the conclusion that their days in the Championship are numbered, the bookies going 1/5 that they find themselves in League One next season.
Indeed there are six sides with odds of less than 5/1 for relegation and three of these are odds-on, these being Luton Town, Barnsley and Hull City. Barnsley, along with the Hatters, were one of the two sides most heavily backed for the drop before the start of the campaign and they are 2/5 to drop down into the third tier. Hull City are third from bottom in the league table with goal-difference alone separating them from Middlesbrough, however the Tigers are fancied for the drop at odds of 4/6 while the Teessiders are fancied to survive in the Championship at odds of 7/2.
Charlton Athletic and Huddersfield Town are the other two sides deemed to be in real danger of relegation at odds of 6/5 and 5/1 respectively.
Latics and Potters
Wigan Athletic and Stoke City will also be looking nervously over their shoulders as things stand, however the bookies fancy their chances of Championship survival despite the sides being just two and three points above 22nd-placed Hull City. Both sides are a general 16/1 punt for the drop.
