The 2021/22 Champions League gets underway this week with some thrilling matches lined-up. Reigning Premier League champions Manchester City failed at the final hurdle in last season’s Champions League final with a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea, however Pep Guardiola’s men will look to atone for that defeat by getting off to the best possible start in the new campaign. The Citizens lock horns with RB Leipzig at the Etihad Stadium in their Champions League group opener and we envisage the home side getting the upper hand in this match.

Liverpool managed to haul themselves to a top-four finish at the end of what was a thoroughly inconsistent 2020/21 Premier League campaign and Jurgen Klopp’s men get their European campaign underway with a head-to-head with AC Milan at Anfield on Wednesday evening.

Elsewhere, Besiktas entertain Borussia Dortmund in what has the makings of a thrilling encounter while Sheriff Tiraspol will be in for a tough time when they entertain Shakhtar Donetsk. Inter Milan do battle with Real Madrid in what has the making of a high-octane encounter at the San Siro while Spanish champions Atletico Madrid entertain FC Porto in the Spanish capital.

Ahead of the group stages of the competition, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City are joint-favourites to win the competition at 7/2 apiece while Bayern Munich and reigning European champions Chelsea come in next at 7/1 apiece. 2019 champions Liverpool are a general 9/1 shot for success while arch-rivals Manchester United are close by in the outright market at 10/1. Real Madrid are out at 14/1 while Barcelona and Juventus are each a 22/1 shot to become European champions this season.
