Bradford City have endured a thoroughly miserable start to the new season and this resulted in the sacking of former boss Michael Collins after just three months. David Hopkin is now the man in charge of the Bantams and thus far he has had little success in turning around their fortunes with the 3-2 defeat at Blackpool the third loss on the bounce for the West Yorkshire side.
Hopkins has enjoyed notable success in managerial circles having guided Livingston from Scottish League One to the Premiership in back-to-back seasons and he will be looking to emulate this success at Valley Parade. Nevertheless he clearly has a very tough task ahead of him and we don’t envisage his side returning to winning ways when they entertain Charlton Athletic on Saturday afternoon, the bookmakers giving away free bets on Bradford City v Charlton Athletic.
As things stand, Bradford sit 20th in the early League One table having won two and lost five of their seven league outings and there’s no evidence to suggest that they will manage anything from this weekend’s clash with a Charlton side which have been enjoying some decent form of late.
The south-east London outfit head into this match on the back of two consecutive league wins over Southend United (1-2) and Wycombe Wanderers (3-2), therefore spirits will be pretty high in the visitors’ camp. Lee Bowyer’s men sit just one point adrift of the top-six in the League One table and we expect them to take advantage of Bradford’s woes by collecting all three points on Saturday, BetVictor Bookmakers going 7/5 on Charlton Athletic to win.
