Championship Bound

Bournemouth are very much in the mire following a disastrous spell following their return from the lockdown. The Cherries have lost four on the bounce with an aggregate scoreline of 12-3 and they now sit four points adrift of safety in the Premier League table. Boss Eddie Howe has thus far confounded his critics by keeping his side in the top-flight for five seasons and it’s fair to say that during this time his men have exceeded all expectations, however it is looking increasingly likely that the south-coast outfit will be back in the Championship at the end of the season, unless of course they can manage a very unlikely turnaround tonight.

Massive Task

The Cherries have lost to the likes of Crystal Palace, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Newcastle United and Manchester United since the enforced break with nine goals conceded in the last two outings. It is certainly a massive task for them tonight when they entertain Tottenham Hotspur and it’s fair to say that three points don’t look too likely for the home side.

Four-match Ban

As for Spurs, the main topic of conversation is the four-match ban imposed on Eric Tier for entering the stands earlier in the season. Dier did concede a penalty against Manchester United a few weeks ago but on the whole he has been solid for Spurs in the heart of defence.

European Hopes

Any faint hopes that Tottenham Hotspur had of reaching the Champions League berths disappeared many weeks ago and the best they can now possibly achieve is a Europa League berth. Even this is starting to look rather doubtful for last season’s Champions League finalists and with just wins from their four outings since the break, Jose Mourinho will be desperate for the win tonight.

Tough Run-in

In fairness, we think that Spurs will get their win. Bournemouth have been truly abysmal of late and it appears that they are already resigned to their fate. Mathematically they can mount a late escape, however they have a tough run-in to the end of the season with games against Leicester City and Manchester City following on from tonight’s clash. Morale will already be at a very low ebb in the home camp and Spurs will surely hammer another nail in their Premier League coffin tonight.
