Championship side Millwall were granted a reprieve in the original FA Cup fourth-round tie with Rochdale when they grabbed themselves an equaliser in the dying seconds and they can take advantage of this on Tuesday evening and set themselves up with what will more than likely be a fifth-found clash with Premier League high-flyers Tottenham Hotspur.
The Lions have an excellent FA Cup pedigree for a club of their size with two semi-final appearances in the past fifteen seasons although they looked to be heading out of this season’s competition when trailing 2-1 at Spotland, however Ben Thompson spared Millwall’s blushes by banging in an equaliser and we expect the South Londoners to get one over on the League One visitors at the Den on Tuesday evening.
Millwall are enjoying a respectable first season back in the Championship with Neil Harris’ men sitting fourteenth in the table as things stand. They head into this match on the back of an excellent 2-0 win at Reading and barring any catastrophic drop in form over the next few months, it is unlikely that we’ll see them becoming embroiled in any relegation scrap.
Rochdale remain in a pretty precarious position although they eased their relegation worries with a much-needed win at Northampton on Saturday afternoon. Nevertheless they remain second bottom in League One with five points separating them from third-from-bottom MK Dons and given that they have several games in hand over the sides above them, they will certainly be putting their focus primarily into their league campaign.
That’s not to say that they won’t give the Lions a run for their money this week, however Millwall are fancied to edge their way past the visitors and deny them a dream home tie with Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.
